As the Key Account Manager, you are the category owner of the assigned strategic accounts, know your category shares at the account and the shopper profile. You are responsible for driving profitable sales growth with the customer for the assigned category. You are able to articulate the potential of the account in your category and product needs to meet that potential. Key activities encompass sell-in and sell-thru with accountability for owning the customer order book and ensuring that the order book is tightly managed according to internal policies. You are responsible for managing through the matrix to ensure the smooth delivery of the seasonal package to the customer. 


  • Execution of the existing JBP
  • Owning the relationship for the assigned category and building strong connections with key decision makers
  • Owning the category Customer Value Assessment (CVA) and providing regular updates to the commercial team
  • Providing accurate pre-season forecasts and monthly in-season shipping forecasts to the business
  • Planning, ownership and professional presentation of the CRA collection and implementation plans for accompanying sales programs and providing professional consultation to the customer in terms of assortment and sales measures
  • Liaising with key customer contacts regarding supply and agreement of any Value-Added Services (VAS) and other account specific costs
  • Ownership and management of the customer category order according to internal policies
  • Ownership of KA relevant KPIs and DATAs (Sell-thru rates, web data analytics) and drive action plan to improve them
  • Responsibility for ongoing planning, analysis, order validation, order book management and monitoring of relevant KPIs
  • Sell Thru Activities: Responsibility for managing sell-through activities, monitoring the execution of seasonal sales programs and focusing on customer profitability
  • Ensuring exceptional brand presence in the account stores and online
  • Working closely with the Merchandising Team and developing programs and product ranges that uniquely build Salomon’s ability to succeed with assigned accounts and delivery against the category JBP
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships (Merchandising Team, CS, Marketing, Strategic Account Management, Sales Data Analyst)


  • Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree in a business-related field, or equivalent
  • 3+ years category management experience within the sporting goods industry, selling to international/cross border strategic accounts in a similar role
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly strong Excel skills
  • Fluency in English and German, both spoken and written
  • Strong relationship management capability
  • Transformational leadership mindset
  • Strong communication skills with cultural awareness, to manage external customer needs and manage the AS internal matrix – connecting well with people at all levels
  • High business acumen with an ability to manage a category across all levels
  • Strong P&L management and analytical skills with the ability to apply commercial acumen for decision making
