The Pattern Maker is responsible for managing the fit and construction of garments for all product categories throughout the On Running Apparel team. It is the responsibility of the Pattern maker to deliver high-quality products in alignment with the brand standards and our athlete’s expectations for aesthetic, quality and fit. The Pattern maker supports fittings, and on measurement adjustments, and supports the cross functional team to deliver the  premium products. In this role, you will collaborate with the Development, Materials, 3D, Product Manager and the Design team to translate the product design and style vision into a consistent fit and quality level by the development of the technical specification.

Your Mission:

  • Support fit session with technical knowledge to achieve proper fit aesthetic and support development comments to improve the garment to match the specification, construction and overall appearance. 
  • Support to implement all changes and pattern adjustment information to a technical package/comments.
  • Develop block pattern & technical specifications. Build technical specifications including technical illustration, construction details/seam specification and measurement spec.
  • Create and maintain fit matrix
  • Work cross-functionally with the Development, Design, Product management, Sourcing and Merchandising teams. Actively participate in milestone development meetings to provide insight on fit/pattern specifications and product history.
  • Communicate with overseas vendors for tech pack and sample development questions; Problem solve in collaboration with cross functional teams on patterns, construction and techniques to improve fit, balance and overall quality of garment.
  • Develop style specific blocks in PLM system with measurement sets and grade rules
  • Review specifications and grade to ensure relevancy in the marketplace and to the consumer. Proactively provide update opportunities and recommendations
  • Train and mentor new hires by sharing experience, knowledge and best practices.

Your Story:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Apparel, Construction or Textiles, or equivalent industry experience
  • 5+ years apparel pattern design experience, 3+ years of experience working in the athletic, sportswear or outdoor environment.
  • Experience working in apparel product design, technical design, or product development 
  • Knowledge of physical apparel manufacturing/construction techniques
  • Understanding on draping, pattern-making, cutting & stitching
  • Thorough knowledge garment fit, balance, grading, and tolerances
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact and build relationships and work as a team
  • Curious and research enthused mindset
  • Experience with using 3D apparel design software's eg. Browzwear, CLO3D, Style3D, or other suitable solutions
  • Able to leverage 3D software to create and revise 3D apparel. 
  • Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills
  • Experience with navigating a PLM system, ideally Centrics
  • Experience with a pattern CAD tools (Gerber, Lectra, Assyst etc.)
