As a central element within the Finance organization, Corporate Controlling drives financial steering and decision making through high-quality financial analysis and foresight. The department covers strategic controlling, corporate planning & performance management, integrated business & demand planning, sales finance, brand/marketing finance as well as global cost management and group functions finance.

As a Director Strategic Planning, you will play a critical role in the execution of ‘Own the Game’ and ensuring we achieve our profitability growth targets. You will work in a fast-paced, highly visible environment, and liaise with a broad set of stakeholders including the CFO, the SVP Corporate Controlling, the VP Market Finance, Finance Directors in our markets, the Corporate Strategy team as well as functional leaders and business development teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsibility for our ‘Own the Game’ financial plan and model

• Lead preparation of strategic and financial analysis

• Drive market interactions and evaluation of new business opportunities

• Lead preparation of board and market workshops

• Lead model updates (changing business dynamics or internal set-up)

• Continuously revisit long-term assumptions (e.g., category growth rates, FOB)

• Establish new top-down/bottom-up model structure in Excel and planning tool (e.g., SAP)

• Anticipate financial and strategic challenges across markets and functions

• Further develop and strengthen the team

• Own execution of projects with strategic / transaction character as well as process and system upgrades

• Act as a role model and follow adidas Fair Play code of conduct and internal policies

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Strong analytical mindset and facility with numbers

• Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen

• Solid understanding of finance and accounting

• Strong financial modelling skills (Excel) and ideally experience with planning software

• Outstanding problem-solving skills (structuring, analysis, synthesis)

• Strong interpersonal skills including stakeholder management, influencing, executive presence

• Innovative, action-oriented and solution-minded team player

• Understanding of Finance IT infrastructure (ideally SAP environment) as well as financial planning and front-end reporting tools

• Strong ability to draw to-the-point conclusions and recommendations

• Change management skills and track record in delivering large scale/global projects

• Very strong communication, influencing & negotiation skills to appropriately serve senior executives, stakeholders, cross functional business leaders, peers and customers

• Innovative, action-oriented and solution-minded team player

 Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

• Advanced degree or qualification in Business, Finance, Economics or STEM subjects

• Min. 8-10 years of broad-based (Corporate) Finance and Strategy experience with progressive responsibility in industry leading consultancy and/or top tier investment bank and global corporations

• Significant leadership experience
