Let's talk about the role…

The Director of Corporate and Government Affairs EMEA partners with key internal stakeholders to develop and execute the strategy for external stakeholders’ engagement and government affairs within our EMEA footprint, with the objective to protect and enhance VF’s business interests and reputation.

In this role you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with selected external stakeholders in the region and communicating VF’s positions, priorities and activities in EMEA to key influential audiences, including NGOs and governments. 

You will be responsible of

  • Help to set a vision and strategy for corporate and government affairs

  • Devise and implement a coordinated approach to external communications to enhance VF’s reputation

  • Lead internal and external communications around issues management in the region

  • Create and maintain a dynamic mapping of external stakeholders important to VF

  • Build key relationships with Government officials and policy makers at the EU and national level and advocate for VF with the EU and national institutions

  • Help to manage government lobby firms covering strategic jurisdictions in EMEA and to coordinate PR agencies in the region

  • Lead internal cross functional teams to align on key messages and activities which drive the most value to VF from a reputation perspective or legislative /regulatory risk perspective

How you will make the difference…

Assisting to formulate the best corporate communications strategy to promote and protect the company’s reputation and to support the company’s GA effort.  

Engaging key internal decision makers and subject matter experts as needed to support VF’s advocacy efforts and building coalitions of support to defend/amend or advocate for legislative proposals. 

Creating an inventory of all regional government touchpoints and facilitating the creation of new touchpoints when needed by the business. 

In partnership with global stakeholder engagement experts at VF, you will maintain an updated comprehensive, EMEA mapping of all VF’s external stakeholders that impact VF’s activities, and you will help to develop VF’s strategy for engaging.

With VF’s global supply chain spanning over 50 countries and well over 1 million workers, you will identify government-related opportunities for VF’s to engage to elevate the impact VF can create on workers within regional garment supply chains. 

What you need to succeed…

Years of Related Professional Experience: 10-12 years 

Minimum 8 years of corporate communications, stakeholder engagement experience and government affairs leadership

Experience working in a consumer product company with a global supply chain is a plus

Business acumen

BA/BS in communications, political science, business or related field is a plus

·         Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

·         Strong interpersonal / influencing skills

·         Regional/EU experience

·         Strong building external strategic relationship skills (which add value to VF’s business).

·         Travel by air and overnight, as required 40% amount of time (in alignment with Covid restrictions).  

Bi-trilingual (English, German, Italian; French is a plus) fluent in English is a must have
